The portrayal of my understanding of and relationship with femininity is one of the most evident themes in the arts I create. I find myself drawn to and heavily inspired by hyper-feminine aesthetics, such as pin-up, burlesque, and the color pink. More importantly, the confidence these women exudes, and how they are always unapologetic about their flamboyance and extravagance, taking control and autonomy in the arts that they create. To quote one of my favorite artists Olivia De Berardinis, “my drawing table became the only place where I had some control”. With the power of a canvas and a paintbrush, I can also embrace the identities that I was always discouraged to showcase, and making the fantasies that only lived in my head come to life.
